Free AI visibility check

Most websites look fine in a browser and are close to invisible to AI answer engines. This free tool runs nine deterministic checks against your live site and tells you whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity can reach it, read it and identify who you are. No signup, results in about ten seconds.

What the check looks at

AI crawler access

Whether your robots.txt blocks GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot or Google-Extended. These are the crawlers that feed ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity. If they are disallowed, no amount of good content will get you cited.

Readable text without JavaScript

How many words exist in your raw HTML before any JavaScript runs. Most AI crawlers never execute JavaScript, so a single-page app that looks complete in a browser can be an empty shell to them.

Entity clarity

Whether you publish Organization or Person structured data with sameAs links to your external profiles. This is how a model confirms which company you are instead of guessing from prose.

Answer shape

Whether the page is broken into subheadings that can be lifted as self-contained answers, or is one undifferentiated block of text that no model will quote.

Title and description

Whether both exist and are sized so a search engine or model can use them verbatim rather than inventing a summary.

Sitemap

Whether a valid sitemap.xml exists at the standard location, and how many URLs it lists.

Single main heading

Whether the page declares exactly one H1 stating its subject.

Canonical address

Whether each page declares its own canonical URL so duplicate versions do not split your credit.

llms.txt

Whether you publish an llms.txt file: an emerging plain-text convention that tells AI agents what your site is and which pages matter.

How it is scored

Each check is weighted by how much it affects whether an AI engine can cite you. Crawler access and JavaScript-free readable text carry the most weight, because a failure on either makes every other signal irrelevant. Entity clarity is next, followed by answer structure and the standard foundations. The result is a score out of 100 with a plain-English verdict and a specific fix for every issue found.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AI visibility check really free?

Yes. It requires no account and no card. It fetches your homepage, robots.txt, sitemap.xml and llms.txt and applies fixed rules, so it costs nothing to run and there is nothing to gate.

Why can ChatGPT not see my website?

The three common causes are a robots.txt that disallows AI crawler user-agents, a JavaScript-rendered site whose text is absent from the raw HTML, and missing Organization structured data that leaves models unsure which brand you are. The check tells you which of these applies to your site.

Does this tell me what ChatGPT says about my brand?

No. This check measures whether AI engines can reach, read and identify your site. Finding out what ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity actually say when asked about your category requires putting real prompts to those models, which is ThoughtForge's Brand Health run.

How is this different from a normal SEO audit?

A traditional SEO audit optimises for Google's ranked list of links. This checks the conditions for being quoted inside a generated answer: crawler permission, text a non-JavaScript crawler can read, unambiguous entity identity and quotable page structure.
